Accelerated Reader

Who can read a million words in one year?  You can!  We will keep track of the amount of words you read this year.  When you finish reading a book, take an AR quiz.  Mrs. Vesely will generate a report that shows the number of words you have read every two weeks.  Why do we count words instead of points?  Take a look at the chart below.  

Just in case you are wondering, a book like Diary of a Wimpy Kid has 19,784 words.  So do the math.  How many books would you have to read to reach the 1,000,000 word challenge?  
 
 
Oh, and did I mention prizes?  Yes, there will be prizes along the way.  When you read only 5,000 words you already qualify for your first prize.  Start reading today.
